L. Larue Stewart's Obituary

L. Larue (Fairman) Stewart, age 83, of Indiana, formerly of Washington Twp., passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Communities of Indian Haven. She was born in Burrell Township, PA in 1931 to John Lloyd and Ethel May Lukehart Stewart. She was a member of the PSEA. A graduate of Indiana High School in 1949, and received her Bachelor's degree in 1971, and her Masters Degree in 1975 in Elementary Education, both from IUP. Larue was employed as teacher for the Marion Center Area School District for 20 years. Following her retirement, she and her companion Joe Bratton traveled extensively throughout the world, including seven continents and over 70 countries. Larue is survived by her companion Joe Bratton, Indiana; one son and two daughters - Stephen G. Fairman and wife Reed, Indiana; Cynthia Purcell and companion David Mowry, Vero Beach, FL; Lauren Havko and husband Dr. Fred Havko, Erie; ten grandchildren - Troy, Alison, Stephanie, Leah, Caitlin, Ben, Lindsey, Sam, Stephen, Jr., Elizabeth; seven great grandchildren; three sisters - Eleanor Caylor, Kersey; Carroll Johnston, Creekside; and Inez Kelsey, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters - Elsie Sheaffer and Lorraine Kunkle. Friends will be received on Saturday from 1 to 3 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home where a memorial service will begin at 3 P.M. with the Rev. William Milligan officiating. Private inurnment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA, 850 Hospital Rd., Suite 3000, Indiana, PA 15701.
