Kenneth M. Weaver's Obituary

Kenneth M. Weaver, age 71, of Home, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the Armstrong Co. Hospital. He was born in 1939 in Smicksburg to Milo and Maxine Cornman Weaver. Ken was a veteran of the Cuban Missile Crisis having served in the US Army. He received a BS degree from IUP, a Master degree from Duquesne Univ., and was a graduate of Oklahoma Farriers College. Ken was a member of the US Trotting Assoc., PA Fair Harness Horsemen, Meadows Standardbred Owners Assoc., PA Harness Horsemen Assoc., life time member of the Armstrong Co. Mounted Posse, co-founder and life time member of the Foothills Horse and Pony Assoc., a former member of the PA Contest Riders Assoc., and a former member of the PA Flying Farmers Assoc. He was employed as a school teacher for Armstrong Co. Schools for 25 years before retirement. He was currently self-employed as a Standardbred Horse Trainer. Kenneth is survived by his mother Maxine Weaver, Home; companion Katricia Adams, Home; one daughter and one son, Robin Weaver, Mahaffey; Brian and wife Heidi, Rural Valley; two grandchildren, Augusta and Rhys; two step-grandchildren, Hannah Farester and Rory Farester-Hohl; one brother, Paul and wife Carol, Home; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, and an infant daughter. Friends will be received on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 to 5 P.M. at the Old Mahoning Baptist Church, 5225 Mahoning Rd., Home, PA, 15747. A funeral service will be held at the church on Monday at 2 P.M. with the Rev. Micah McMillen officiating. Interment will be made in the North Point Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Van Cornish Scholarship Fund, c/o the Dayton Fair, PO Box 271, Dayton, PA 16222.
