Kay G.
Peternay
June 18, 1947 – May 17, 2024
Kay G. Peternay passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 18, 1947, in Josephine, PA and was the daughter of the late Robert and Imogene (Brickell) Lowman of Indiana, PA.
Kay was married to the love of her life for 55 years, John Peternay, on September 14, 1968.
She is survived by her daughter Lori (Greg) Schweitzer of Spartansburg, PA and son, Jeff Peternay of Indiana, PA. Also surviving are her grandchildren Emily Schweitzer (Dax Wareham) of Lewiston, ID, Sara (Nick) Szobody of Preston, ID and Garret (Veronica) Schweitzer ofTitusville, PA. She was able to hold and love her first great grandchild, Emma Marie Schweitzer.
Also surviving are her brothers and sisters Marlene Berfield, Indiana, PA, Vivian (Donald) Hadder, Scottsdale, AZ, Robert Lowman, Scottsdale, AZ, Kimberly (Steve) Sundvold, Queen Creek, AZ, Jerry (Shelly) Lowman, Indiana, PA, Dean (Suzy) Lowman, Gray, TN.
She was loved by her sister and brothers-in-law and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Richard Lowman and Ronald Lowman, and two sisters, infant Marcia Lowman and Carolyn (Adcock) Hartman.
Kay worked hard at everything she did, a courageous woman that tirelessly fought her illness with dignity and strength. Since high school graduation, she held various retail jobs and worked at Robertshaw. She could tend to her beautiful home, flowers and was a master of cooking and baking, her specialties for family gatherings, reunions, and parties. She could also take down trees, track deer and change a tire if needed-- a true solid rock for her family. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and contributed greatly to their upbringing, always present, always available, always welcoming. Playing golf, traveling, spending time with her close friends were some of her favorite pastimes, and, of course, her care and compassion for her husband John throughout their lives together will always be remembered. She will be greatly missed by so many.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, May 27, 2024, from 4PMto 7PM at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, PA, and Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 11AM until the time of funeral service at noon with Mrs. Donna Yarnal, lay leader, officiating. Interment will take place in Oakland Cemetery.
