Obituary

Kathryn Ann Detwiler, 56, of Heilwood passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. The daughter of Jerry and Catherine Pike of Indiana, she was born in 1955 in Johnstown. Kathy was a graduate of Indiana Area Sr. High School and The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. She was employed at the Indiana County Community Living and Learning Center where her "individuals" remember her as a very kind, caring, and patient Tac-Unit Supervisor for the mentally and physically disabled. Kathy also enjoyed working as a CPR instructor for the American Red Cross as well as being a devoted member of the Heilwood Sportsmen's Club where she spent many happy times with her husband, Dave and son, Chad. Her compassionate heart and gracious personality will live on through each and every life she touched. Kathy will be sadly missed by her husband, Dave Detwiler and son, Chad; sister Debby Orkwis and husband Mark, Indiana; brother Jeff Pike and wife Tamme, Shamrock, TX; brother Doug Pike and wife Donna, Indiana; brother David Pike and wife Kathy, Hollidaysburg; brother Mark Pike and wife Trish, Harleysville; nieces and nephews Brianne and Stephanie Orkwis, Kayla and Tori Pike, Jason Pike; and many wonderful brother and sister-in-laws, and nieces and nephews from Dave's family. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 A.M. with the Rev. Brian Miller officiating. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heilwood Sportsmen's Club, 112 Hamil Road, Heilwood, PA 15745 to be used for the annual picnic benefiting the mentally and physically disabled citizens of Indiana County.
