Obituary

Julia Kaluponov Sushak, 94, of Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. She was born in Homestead, PA on October 23, 1919 to Ermoly and Agrippina Kaluponov. Her parents immigrated to the United States from Russia in the early 20th century. Their names are engraved on the American Immigrant Wall of Honor at Ellis Island, New York. She was a devoted member of St. John Eastern Orthodox Church, Blairsville. She had been a member and avid choir participant of St. Gregory's Russian Orthodox Church in Homestead. She is survived by a daughter, Melanie S. Katzmann, Philadelphia; and a sister Pauline Grabania, Monongahela.. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers - Andrew and Peter, four sisters - Helen, Mary, Vera and Stella. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Alexander Sushak, who was with Fisher Scientific Company in Indiana and a daughter, Cynthia Sushak, a molecular biologist with Novartis Corporation in Morris Plains, NJ. Funeral arrangements are private and entrusted to the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana.
