Joseph B. Sklar's Obituary

Joseph B. Sklar, 95, of Kent, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born in 1918 to John and Mary (Sedlak) Sklar in Coal Run, Pennsylvania. Mr. Sklar was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Kent. He served as sergeant in the US Army during World War II. He worked as a coal miner and later as a supervisor for 40 years with the RandP Coal and North American Coal Companies, retiring in 1980. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary A. (Boris) Sklar, Kent; two daughters and one son, Cecelia "Bonnie" Mattern, Las Vegas, NV; Gregory J. Sklar and wife Carol, Butler; Rita L. Sklar, Reno, NV; four grandchildren, Mary Mattern, Jonathan, Christopher, and ASHLEY Sklar; one brother, Edward Sklar and wife Marie, Enola; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and BY THREE BROTHERS AND FIVE SISTERS. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 TO 4 and 6 TO 8 p.m. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kent, with Reverend Father Charles Esposito, the celebrant. Burial will be made in the St. Bernard's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to A CHARITY OF THE DONOR'S CHOICE.
