John M. Young, age 85 of Indiana, died Saturday, July 27, 2019 at his home.

He was born on July 8, 1934 in Monongahela to John and Elvera (Matz) Young.

John was employed with Verizon for 37 years as a supervisor.  He was affiliated with the Methodist faith.   He was a member of the Indiana Lions Club.

He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida and the summer months on the Allegheny, trying to catch "the big one."   He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who treasured time with his family.

John is survived by his wife of 65 years  Dorothy L. (Pfluger) Young; children – Terry Young of Indiana; Kris Young of Duncansville; Dorothy (Randy)  Empfield of Indiana; John (Stacey) Young of Franklin; grandchildren – Chad (Heather) Empfield , Todd (Maria)  Empfield , Shawn Empfield, Hannah Young; sister - Olive Friday, and many nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister – Adele Young.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana.  A memorial service will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Kathy Mihoerck officiating.
