Obituary

Obituary for John Leroy Shank John Leroy Shank, 85, of Shelocta, passed away Monday, September 12, 2011, at St. Andrew's Village. He was born April 17, 1926, to Blair and Wilda (Hicks) Shank in White Twp, Indiana County. Leroy was a member of the Church of Christ and was a lifelong resident of Indiana County. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army and US Air Corps. After 42 years with McCreary Tire and Rubber Company, he retired in 1986 as maintenance foreman. During retirement Leroy spent the winters in Mesa, AZ. He is survived by his wife, Florence Shank, Indiana; a son and five daughters: Harold Shank and wife Sally, Vienna, WV; Bonnie Young and husband Dennis, Salt Rock, WV; Vickie Sue Coleman and husband William, Indiana; Rose Johnson and husband Donald, Hamlin, WV; Wilda Wolf and husband Thomas, Las Vegas, NV; Mildred Sprager and husband Dave, Hubertus, WI; He is additionally survived by eight grandchildren: Mary Beth Brown, Columbia, MO; Denise Sloan, Raeford, NC; Andrew Bolinger, Deland, FL; Clifton Bolinger, Florence, SC; Emma Bolinger, Nashville, TN; Daniel Shank, Athens, GA; Nathan Shank, Lexington, KY; Timmie Hern, Phoenix, AZ; and two great grandchildren, Alexis Sloan, Raeford, NC; and Tyler Sprager, Milwaukee, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother Blair Shank in 2003. Funeral arrangements are private.
