Obituary

John C. Phillips, 75, of Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. He was born April 13, 1938 to John Kostyal and Mary (Monroe) Kostyal in Warren. John was a loving father and grandfather. He always had a great sense of humor and loved to make people smile. He was more than just witty with his jokes. John was a gifted writer who brought many smiles through his near 1,000 columns that he penned for The Indiana Gazette, where he worked for 46 years. He was an avid golfer and member of the VFW, Indian Springs Golf and Country Club, AARP, and the St. Thomas More University Parish. John leaves behind his daughter Sara Scott, and husband Curt, and grandson Caleb Scott of Beaver Falls; brother Joe Phillips and wife Nancy, Fairfax, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (Phillips) Kostyal; sister Leslie Lopus; and brother George Phillips. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home in Indiana. A prayer service will follow at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Private interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery
