Obituary

John LoPresti, age 94, of Brush Valley, died Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born in 1917 in Homer City, to Virgilio and Diega LoPresti. Mr. LoPresti was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Indiana, where he was once active in home ministries. A veteran of WW II, he served in the US Army as a paratrooper with the 101st ABN. He was self-employed as a farmer in Brush Valley Twp his entire life. He was also employed by Fisher Scientific until his retirement in 1978. He loved God, his family, his country and the flag, gardening, and his pets. John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia Kunkle LoPresti, Brush Valley; one son and one daughter, John and wife Jackie, Luther, MT; Hope Hampton and husband Dale, Brush Valley; his son-in-law John Burda, Brush Valley; 10 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; one brother Angelo, Lorraine, OH; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, by his daughter Faith Burda in 2002, by two brothers and two sisters, Frank, Ernie, Mary Shimko, and Lillian Matthews. Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 A.M. at the First Assembly of God Church, Indiana, with Pastor Richard Motzing and Pastor Jake Shelatz officiating. Interment will be made in the Brush Valley Lutheran Cemetery, with the VFW Post #1989 providing graveside military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Counseling Service of Indiana, Suite 301, Indiana Theater Bldg., 637 Philadelphia St., Indiana, PA 15701.
