John E. Lazor's Obituary

John E. Lazor, age 91 of Indiana , passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

The son of Nicholas and Mary Mizerak Lazor, he was born in 1925 in Adrian .

John was an active member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church serving in the Choir and as an Usher for 50 years. He was also a member of St. Vincent DePaul where he volunteered with the Love Basket for 15 years. A member of the Knights of Columbus 4 th degree Counsel #1481, he served as a former Commander and Faithfull Navigator. He also volunteered for the Toys for Tots program with the VFW Post #1989 where he was a lifetime member.

A proud veteran of WW II, he served in the US Marine Corps as a Corporal with the VMB Squadron 611 in the South Pacific.

John was first employed as a coal miner and then he worked for the Indiana Gazette for 15 years. He was then self-employed as a builder and contractor for 40 years. He was an avid walker, Pirate fan, gardener, and enjoyed antiquing. John was generous to those in need in both his family and the community. Most importantly, he enjoyed his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Joan (Zoldak) Lazor, Indiana; four daughters - Diana Kabo and husband Ronald, Johnstown; Alice Blyzwick and husband Edward, Mercer; Lorry Lentz, Indiana; Annette Cusimano and husband Gregory, Homer City; 10 grandchildren - Jennifer Kabo McIntosh and husband Matthew; Jason Kabo and wife Sheri; Christopher Kabo; Brad Blyzwick and wife Cara; Jaclyn Blyzwick; Derek Blyzwick and wife Jolene; James Lentz, II and wife Jennifer; Michael Cusimano; Eric Cusimano and wife Leah; Logan Cusimano. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, and the following siblings - Mary Ann Becker, Frances Rado, Dorothy Morrow, Alex Lazor and wife Jean, Bernard Lazor and wife Geneva , Vincent Lazor and wife Clara.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by the following siblings - Nicholas, William, Edward, Andrew, Margaret, and Martha Lazor.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 A.M. at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will be made in the St. Bernard Mausoleum.

Graveside military honors will be provided by the VFW Post #1989.
