Obituary

John S. Kubala, age 88, of Homer City, (Kent), died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born in 1922 in Aultman to Steve and Amelia Kubala. Mr. Kubala was an active member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kent, a 4th Degree member of the K of C Fr. McNeilis Council, the UMWA Local #1412, and the C and Y Sportsman Club. Formerly, he was associated with the Boy Scouts of America William Penn Council, and the R and P Baseball League. A veteran of WW II, he served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army. He was employed by the R and P Coal Co. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, and reading. John is survived by his wife Mary Yurack Kubala, Homer City; two sons, John, Fryburg; Joseph and wife Laurie, Greensburg; two brothers and six sisters, Margaret Guiher, (Thomas), Aultman; Jenny Scalion, Indiana; Betty Kubala, Pittsburgh; Agnes Hatcoat, (Bill), TX; Jean Wright, (Sam), Tunnelton; Ann Zuchelli, (James), Homer City; George, Buffalo, NY; James, Creekside; He was preceded in death by his parents, by his brothers Joseph, Steve, Edward, and Mike, and by his sisters Louise Burtick and Catherine Yurky. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 A.M. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kent, with the Rev. Fr. Charles Esposito the celebrant. Interment will be made in the St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, PO Box 99, Kent, PA 15752.
