John N. Galinac, Jr.'s Obituary

John Nicholas Galinac, Jr., 65, of Young Township, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2025, at his home.

He was born in Indiana on July 19, 1959, to the late John Nicholas and Mary Elizabeth (Rongers) Galinac. A lifelong resident of Indiana and Young Township, John was a graduate of Apollo-Ridge High School, class of 1977.

Throughout his life he worked as a coal miner and a landscaper. He was a member of the United Mineworkers Union 3548 and proudly served as a volunteer fireman with the Coal Run/ McIntyre V.F.D. in his younger years. John will be remembered for having a servant's heart, always lending his ear and his hand to anyone in need.

John was an avid car enthusiast with a passion for playing guitar. He especially enjoyed jam sessions with his friends, and playing gigs at various venues. He also loved all animals and was affectionately known as a dog whisperer.

He leaves behind four siblings, Mary Ann Galinac, of Saltsburg, Carol J. Galinac-Gray (Timothy), David James Galinac (Christine), and James Mark Galinac (Carole), all of Young Township; numerous nieces and friends.

Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by infant brother, Bernard Galinac; brother-in-law, Richard Tandaric; and his furry companions, Goldie and Blackie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Friday, January 24, 2025, in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 100 Good Shepherd Drive, Kent, with Father Segungino R. Laude as celebrant. Interment to follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana.
