John (Jack) G. Cunningham, of Indiana passed away on August 5, 2026, one day after his 99th birthday surrounded by his wife and daughters.
Born in Saltsburg he is the son of the late Wilmer and Ethel Mary Cunningham.
Jack graduated from Saltsburg High School, Slippery Rock University, and the University of Pittsburgh. He was a teacher and school administrator at Penn Hills School District for 34 years.
Jack served in post war Germany in the Army Air Corps.
He loved to sing, read, take car rides to see the leaves and most importantly spending time with his family and meeting new people.
Jack is survived by his ever-loving wife of 25 years, Lucy Cunningham. He is also survived by his two daughters Dianna (David) Rostis, Indiana, Gina (Mack) Zimmerman of Sykesville, two sons J. Woodruff of Pittsburgh and J. Scott of Saltsburg. Jack was blessed with six grandchildren Jenna (Glenn) Dean, Dylan (Shelbi) Zimmerman, Alexis (Jake) Felix, Casey Cunningham, Hunter Cunningham, and Turner Cunningham. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Lincoln & Reece Zimmerman. He is also survived by his faithful pup Gizmo and best friend of 65 years Tony Mascaro.
Jack was proceeded in death by his older siblings and his first wife Mary Lee.
The family would like to thank Penn Home Health for all their wonderful services. A very special thank you to his nurse Krissy for all her care, love, and friendship over the years.
In honoring Jack’s wishes there will be no visitation. Friends will be received on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 10:00 AM until noon at which time a Celebration of Life will be held at the Donahue-Tylinski Funeral Home (formerly Bowser-Minich Funeral Home), 500 Ben Franklin Road South, Indiana PA.
