Obituary

Joann Catherine (Wit) Klausing, age 88, of Indiana, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at St. Andrew's Village. She was born in 1922 in Braddock, PA to Ludwig and Mary Grabowa Wit. Mrs. Klausing was a member of St. Thomas More University Parish and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the Indiana Regional Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading and watching football games with her husband "the coach". Joann is survived by her husband of 63 years Charles L. Klausing, Indiana, PA; three daughters and one son, Patricia Klausing Simmons and husband William, Indiana, PA; Marylou Billings and husband Royce, Girard; Thomas Klausing and wife Kathleen, North Potomac, MD; Kathleen Kilheeney and husband Thomas, Ft. Mill, SC; 12 grandchildren, Julie Krol, Jeffrey Simmons, Brandon and Conner Billings, Kimberly, Kaitlin, and Kelsey Klausing, Carrie Hinerman, Scott and Christopher Marshall, TJ and Kristen Kilheeney; six great grandchildren, Madison, Megan, and Allie Krol, Hayden and Lucas Simmons, Trevor Hinerman; and by one brother Lou Wit, Detroit, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her daughter Nancy Klausing Marshall, by two brothers and one sister, Chester and Walter Wit, and Clara Wit Payer. Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. Visitation will also be held from 8:30 to 9:15 A.M. on Saturday at St. Thomas More Parish, where a prayer service will be held at 9:15 A.M. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 9:30 A.M. with Rev. Fr. William Lechnar the celebrant. Interment will be made in St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Charles L., (Chuck) Klausing Scholarship for Football, c/o the Foundation for IUP, 103 Sutton Hall, Indiana, PA 15705.
