Obituary

Jimmie "James" S. Myers, age 68, of Indiana, passed away Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born in 1942 in White Twp, to Earl B. and Florence A. Shubert Myers. Mr. Myers attended the Hilltop Baptist Church, and was a member of the American Legion Post #141. A veteran of the Viet Nam War, he served in the US Navy aboard the USS Shangri-La. He was employed with REA Energy as a chief lineman for 34 years, retiring in 2007. An avid outdoorsman, he loved gardening, woodworking, and riding his Harley. His grandchildren were the love of his life. Jimmie is survived by his wife Connie Myers, Indiana; two sons and one daughter, Jimmie S. Jr., Ashburn, VA; Matthew A., New Holland, PA; Julie Maoury and husband Stanley, Ashburn, VA; three grandchildren, Stanley, III, Lauren, and Keldon; three sisters, Donna Kovalcik and husband James, Blairsville; Jean Lazor and husband Alex, Homer City; Carol Lonas and husband Gary, New Florence; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister, Harold, Donald, and Freddie Myers, and by Margaret Lazor. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 A.M. at the Hilltop Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Lee officiating. Interment will be made in the Oakland Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be provided by the VFW Post #1989.
