Obituary

Obituary for Jessie K. Slansky Jessie K. Slansky, 95, of Indiana formerly of Clune ( Coal Run) passed away Friday July 8, 2011 at Indian Haven. She was born in 1915 to Joseph and Julia (Flack) Sobieray in Salem, MA. Jessie was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kent. When as an active member she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Mercy meal / funeral luncheon coordinator and coordinated other various dinners, also organized the perogie sale fundraisers. Jessie was a founding member of the McIntyre Senior Citizens. She retired from Indiana Hospital in 1977. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family. She is survived by a daugher Carolyn P. Smith, and husband Harold, Indiana; six grandchildren, Barry L. Slansky, Denise A. Howard, Barbara Lewis, Stacey Y. Slansky, Brian D. Smith and Michael E. Slansky, 10 great grandchildren, two sisters, Helen Cocovich, Indiana, Stella Brodrick, Blairsville, and daugher-in-law Frances Slansky, Indiana, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edmund F. Slansky, 1980, two sons Edmund F. Jr ( Smokey). and Joseph F., three brothers Joseph, Raymond and Walter Sobieray, and also a daughter-in-law Carol Slansky. Visitation will be on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kent with Father Charles Esposito celebrant. Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
