Obituary

Jerry J. Pike, age 81, of Indiana, died Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Scenery Hill Manor. He was born in 1933 in Johnstown to Louis and Anna Pike. Jerry was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Indiana, the Indiana Country Club, Sunnehanna Country Club, Rotary Club, and a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America, and Senior Legion Baseball. Mr. Pike was owner and operator of Beck Machine and Brodsky and Company in Indiana for 42 years. Jerry enjoyed working, his grandchildren, gardening, and golf. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Byers Pike, Indiana; one daughter and four sons, Deborah Orkwis and husband Mark, Indiana; Jeff Pike and wife Tamme, Shamrock, TX; Doug Pke and wife Donna, Indiana; David Pike and wife Kathy, Hollidaysburg; Mark Pike and wife Trish, Harleysville; six grandchildren, Brianne and Stephanie Orkwis, Chad Detwiler, Jason Pike, and Kayla and Victoria Pike; one sister, Millie Meckes and husband Richard, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, by a daughter Kathryn Detwiler, two brothers, John and Louis Pike. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Julie Walz officiating. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA, 350 Hospital Rd., Suite 3000, Indiana, PA 15701; or Scenery Hill Manor, 680 Lion's Health Camp Rd., Indiana, PA 15701.
