Obituary

Janet Koch Simpson, 66, Stone Mountain, GA, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014, at DeKalb Medical Center, Decatur, GA. The daughter of Edward M. and Helen Serene Koch, she was born July 30, 1947 at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Ms. Simpson graduated from Indiana Area High School in 1965 and from IUP in 1968. She received her master's degree in Middle School Education from Georgia State in 1991. She was first a 5th teacher at Bob Mathis Elementary School in Decatur, GA, and later taught 6th grade Language Arts at Columbia Middle School in Decatur, GA, until her retirement in 2006. She is survived by two daughters, Heidi S. Evans and husband Jim, and Heather S. Daniel and husband Chad, all of Lilburn, GA; a sister, Margaret K. Conners, Indiana, PA; four grandchildren: Caroline M. Daniel, Zac A. Daniel, Jake S. Evans, Ava E. Evans, Lilburn, GA ; and one nephew, Ian M. Conners, Indiana, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, followed by interment in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana, PA.
