Jaminia Shearer Patterson, age 93 of Indiana, formerly of Cherry Tree and Shelocta, died on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at St. Andrew's Village, Indiana. Born in 1926 to John and Priscilla Peddicord Shearer in Buffington Twp.
She was of the Christian faith and resided in Cherry Tree for 50 years before moving to Shelocta in 1993 and then to Clairvaux Commons in 2007. She worked at Campus Sportswear for 17 years, and was also a seamstress and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and baking and passing these traditions on to her children and grandchildren. She was a compassionate, kind and caring friend to many.
One of her most enjoyable things in life was dancing from a very young age in Buffington Twp where her grandfather Peddicord had a dancehall.
She is survived by one daughter, Helen Henry of Cherry Tree; three grandchildren - Christine Payne and husband Mark, Cherry Tree; Daniel Henry and wife Cheryl, Cherry Tree; Rebecca Henry, Maryland. Two great granddaughters - Kayla Payne, Cherry Tree and Jessika Payne, Blairsville. One great great granddaughter who completes five generations, Aaliyah Payne, Cherry Tree; two sisters - Mildred George and husband James, Homer City; Dorothy Kueisza and husband Dale, Norwalk OH; and numerous special nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Blair, November 1996, her son Harold and wife Carol, sisters - Alice Patterson and Nellie Price, her special aunt Nellie Peddicord Lockard Fair.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm at Bowser- Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 1 pm with Pastor Robert White officiating. Private interment will be made in the Oakland Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the VNA/Hospice and many caregivers at St. Andrew's Village for the compassionate care and loving kindnesses they gave to Jaminia and to her caring and kind roommate Harvean.
