James Paul Sutton , age 88 , of Indiana , passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Moorehead House.

He was born in 1927 in Burnside Twp., to Paul and Viola Trudell Leamer Sutton.

The family moved to Indiana in 1942 and Jim graduated from Indiana High School . Additionally, he completed a Civil Engineering course from ICS.

He was employed by PennDOT for 36 years as Assist. District Maintenance Engineer.

Jim attended the Trinity United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Jaffa Shrine, American Society of Highway Engineers, Antique Auto Club of America, a charter member of the Punxsutawney Antique Auto Club, REO Antique Auto Club of America, Pa Assoc of Retired State Employees, the Good Sam Travel Club, and a donor of many years to the Red Cross whole blood, plasma & platelet program.

He enjoyed traveling, camping, woodworking, making computer greeting cards, and was a novice jeweler. In the 1960's, Jim and his uncle filled a long-time goal by building a log cabin in the Cherry Tree area. In 2015 his family was able to purchase the cabin. A dedicated husband, he spent most of his time with his wife.

Jim is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart of 70 years, Garnet E. Pierce Sutton, Indiana; one son and one daughter, Charles D. Sutton and wife Connie, Indiana; Linda L. Russell and significant other Joseph Whitley,Creswell, NC; three grandchildren, Craig P. Sutton and wife Johanna, Indiana; Carrie L. Sutton-White and husband William, Indiana; Angela D. Russell, Virginia Beach, VA; three great grandchildren, Payton White, Trenton White, and Robert Sutton; two sisters, Helen R. Peterson and husband James, Powell, OH; Phyllis L. Brown and husband Jack, Butler; a sister-in-law Margaret Pierce, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Christopher L. Russell, his sister Dorothy Sutton Ferencz, his brother-in-law Robert Pierce, and an infant sister Rosalie Irene Sutton.

Friends will be received on Monday from 9:30 to 11 A.M., the time of service, at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home , Indiana , with the Rev. Greg Golden officiating. Private interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery .

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jaffa Shrine, Trinity United Methodist Church , Shriners Hospitals , and the American Red Cross.
