Obituary

James (Jim) F. Gearhart, 83, Homer City, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born in 1928 to Fred G. and Grace (Robertson) Gearhart in Phillipsburg. Jim attended the Hope Lutheran Church, Homer City, He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army. Jim retired from Penelec/GPU as a Maintenance Mechanic after 42 years. He was a past Deputy Sheriff in Cambria County, member of the Richland Twp. Fire Dept, State Council of Civil Defense, Johnstown, and the Federal Communication Commission, Johnstown. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mildred H. (Penrod) Gearhart, Homer City; three daughters and a son, Sharon Dressman and husband Ken, Morgantown, WV; David Gearhart and wife Loretta, Indiana; Carol Williams and husband Ed, Indiana; Jane Gearhart, Pittsburgh; Ten grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; a brother Ken Gearhart and wife Helen, Baltimore, MD and a few nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, James F. Gearhart Jr., Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Stephen C. Bond officiating. Interment will be in Richland Cemetery, Johnstown. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Hope Lutheran Church, 35 Ridge Ave, Homer City, PA 15748.
