James P. Dalpra's Obituary

James P. Dalpra, age 87, of Indiana, died Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born in 1923 in Bakerton, to Pietro and Santina Antoniol Dalpra. Mr. Dalpra was a member of the St. Thomas More University Parish, the VFW Post #1989 where he served as Post Commander, the American Legion Post, BPOElks Lodge #931 where he served as an officer, the Knights of Columbus, and the DAV. He was also a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, and with the DAV Van. A veteran of WW II, Jim served in the US Army. An Indiana resident for nearly his entire life, he was employed with the US Postal service until his retirement in 1983. He was an avid fisherman, a Steeler's Fan, a Little League Baseball Coach, and loved to Ballroom Dance with his life-long partner Mary. Jim is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Mary E. Corio Dalpra, Indiana; two sons, James P. Jr., and wife Restina, Waukesha, WI; Bruce A. and wife Pat, Palm Bay, FL; five grandchildren, Adam, Sean, Lisa, Jason and wife Stephanie, and Jimmy; two great grandchildren, Aidan and Brooke; three sisters, Lucille Pelliccioni and husband Ray, Atlanta, GA; Ann Roberts, Cresson; Tillie Traino-Creany, Indiana; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by the following siblings, Betty Dalpra, Mag Bertuzzi, Peg Stickler, Guy, Robert, John, and Clarence Dalpra. Friends and family are invited to the celebration of a funeral mass on Thursday at 10 A.M. at St. Thomas More University Parish, with the Rev. Fr. William Lechnar the celebrant. Entombment will be made in the St. Bernard Mausoleum. The Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, has been entrusted with arrangements. Military honors will be provided by the VFW Post #1989. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice, 850 Hospital Rd. Suite 3000, Indiana, PA 15701.
