Obituary

Jack A. Steffenino, 97, of Homer City, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2012 at St. Andrew's Village. He was born in 1914 to Secondo and Celestine (Masterone) Steffenino in Iselin, Indiana County. Jack was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kent, PSEA, NEA, Indiana County Water Association, Indiana County Planning Commission, Iselin Cemetery Association and also a founding member of the Indiana County Teachers Credit Union, refereed basketball in Indiana County and also was a track coach at Elders Ridge. He retired as superintendent from Apollo Ridge School District after working in education for over 35 years. Jack was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, whom he married July 10, 1950, Betty Selker Steffenino, Homer City; a daugher and a son, Catherine J. Miller and husband Dan, Salem Twp., John E. Steffenino and wife Martha, Greensburg; two grandsons and a granddaughter, David D. Miller and wife Stephanie, Centerville; Gregory M. Miller and wife Melissa, Memphis TN; Isabella B. Steffenino, Greensburg; Three sisters, Edith DeRenzo, Pittsburgh, Alma Gasperini and Anna Michelotti, both of Monroeville, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Harry Steffenino and a sister Lucy Tarasi Visitation will be on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana; a funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 AMat Church of the Good Shepherd, Kent, with Fr. Charles Esposito Celebrant. Burial will take place in the Iselin Union Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Saltsburg American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to the donors choice.
