Ivan L. Myers' Obituary

Ivan L. Myers, age 82, of Washington Twp., passed away on April 22, 2015 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born in 1932 in Brackenridge, Allegheny County, to Lloyd and Frances (Minteer) Myers. Mr. Myers was a member of Harmony Grove Lutheran Church and the former Plum Creek Valley Grange. Ivan was a member and board member of the Indiana County Christmas Tree Growers Association and Operating Engineers, Local 66. Growing up on a farm in Armstrong County, he began operating tractors at age five with wooden blocks strapped to the pedals so he could reach the controls. This started a life-long love of tractors, equipment and farming. Along with his wife Norma Jean Myers, he operated Myers Nursery raising seedlings and Christmas trees, continuing the tradition started by Norma Jean's parents. He also raised beef cattle following the farming tradition started by his parents. He is survived by two daughters - Dr. Kathy Myers Wunder and husband Dr. William Wunder, Indiana; Karen Schrecengost and husband Donald, Creekside; two grandsons - Kevin Schrecengost and wife Abbie Hoover Schrecengost, Homer City; Samuel Schrecengost and wife Christy Morris Schrecengost, Indiana; one great grandson, Lucas, and a brother Ralph Myers and wife Doris, Leechburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Norma Jean Myers who passed away on March 15, 2015. Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, from 9-10 AM at the Harmony Grove Lutheran Church where a funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. with Pastor Dave Wasemann officiating.
