Irene E. Takach, age 89, of Indiana, died Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Beacon Ridge Nursing Home.

She was born in 1927 in New Park to Robert and Millicent Blevins.

Mrs. Takach was a graduate of the York Hospital Nursing Program in York, PA. For a short time she was employed as a nurse in Detroit, MI. She was also the past President of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Indiana Hospital.

Irene enjoyed gambling in Las Vegas and playing the Pennsylvania Lottery. She also loved flowers, especially red roses.

She is survived by three children - Stephen J. Takach, Indiana; Theresa A. Gahagan and husband James, Bluffton, SC; Anthony W. Takach, Allentown; five grandchildren - Sean, Brian, and Colin Gahagan, Matthew and Erin Shank; three great grandchildren - Hunter Takach, Toby Takach, and Paxton Carns; two sisters - Beulah Peterson, MA; Margie Myers, Red Lion; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Dr. Stephen J. Takach in 1999, and two sisters - Virginia Geier and Evelyn Blevins.

Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a Blessing service will be held Tuesday at 11 A.M. Interment will be made in the St. Bernard Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
