Helen C. Kosanovich's Obituary

Helen C. Kosanovich, age 82, of Indiana, died Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Communities of Indian Haven. She was born in 1928 in Clearfield Co. to P. Curtis and Alverda (Duttrey) Harris. Mrs. Kosanovich was a member of the Grace United Methodist Chruch, a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #1989, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 493 Homer City, and the AARP. A graduate of the Indiana Hospital School of Nursing, she worked as a registered nurse at the Indiana Hospital and at the Armstrong Co. Memorial Hospital for a total of 33 years until her retirement in 1983. Helen is survived by two daughters, Deborah L. Mock, Homer City; Kathy K. Higgins, Waynesburg; seven grandchildren, Stephen M. Fennell and wife Robin, Indiana; Michael D. Fennell, Homer City; Jennifer S. Shaffor and husband Timothy, Kent; Edith H. Woods and husband Robert, Waynesburg; Helen E. Higgins, State College;Michael A. Mock and wife Sally, Home; Bradley G. Mock and wife Melanie, Homer City; Caleb J. Brezinski, Blairsville; eight great granchildren; one sister, Florence Avonell Wheeler, Raleigh, NC; one niece and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband George S. Kosanovich in 1996, by and infant sister Hilda Harris, and by two sons-in-law, Chester M. Mock, Jr., and William G. Higgins. Friends will be received on Thursday from 7 to 9 P.M. and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where the District 26 VFW Ladies Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service on Friday at 7 P.M. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Kathy Mihorcek and the Rev. Kathy K. Higgins officiating. Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
