Obituary

Helen M. "Honey" Brown, age 78, of Indiana, died Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. She was born in 1933 in Indiana Co. to Anthony and Anna Motsko Oleksinski. She was employed by IUP in the Co-Op Book Store where she managed the trade book section. Helen and her husband enjoyed traveling, and traveled throughout the United States favoring the western states and visited many national parks. In addition, they visited Kinzua in PA when it first opened; traveled to many state parks and national forest areas in PA; and camped and fished on Little Mahoning. She totally enjoyed the outdoors which included bird-watching. She was an avid professional and college football fan, and closely followed Penn State and Ohio State. Although she loved the Steelers, Drew Brees from the Saints was her favorite quarterback. She also enjoyed watching the Little League World Series at Williamsport, PA. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, especially making candles, Christmas ornaments, and baking snickerdoodles. Helen is survived by her husband Robert R. Brown, Indiana, whom she married October 4, 1957; one brother John Oleksinski and wife Delores, Libertyville, IL; her aunt Sophie Motsko Sakash, Indiana; her special "niece" Andrea Carter and husband Robert, Indiana; and by numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, by two sisters, Joann Kaszubowski, Phyllis Martin, and by one brother Joseph Oleksinski. Friends will be received on Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 P.M. with the Rev. Fr. William Kiel officiating. Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana.
