Obituary

Grayce C. Ward, age 96, of Indiana died Tuesday May 14, 2013 at Communities of Indian Haven. She was born in 1917 in Spangler, to Michael A. and Nora Dillon Ward. Ms. Ward was an active member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church Indiana, the 3rd Order of Carmelites in Loretto, The Ladies of Charity visiting the poor in Washington DC, and the Top Side Aviation Club, Washington, DC. She was employed as a personal secretary to Mayor Ed Breen, Dayton, OH, and continued as executive secretary when he became Congressman in Washington, DC. Finally, she was employed as a legislative assistant for Motorola Electronics in Washington, DC. She moved to Indiana in 1980 and was employed at Nanci's Boutique, where she enjoyed the friendship of many. Grayce is survived by the following cousins, Patricia Lennon, Orlando, FL; Diana Caldwell, Altoona; Linda Hayes, Patton; Stephen Woodburn, Houston, TX; Judy Stanyard, FL; Nancy Schrecongost, Wilmington, NC; Beth Shopers, N. Potomac, MD; Susan Cahill, North Ridgeville, OH; Sally W. Souchock, Indiana; and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, and the following siblings, Michael, John Joseph, Marion, Edna Mae, and Nancy. Friends will be received on Sunday from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 P.M. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 A.M. at St. Bernard of Clairvaux R.C. Church, Indiana, with the Rev. Fr. William Kiel, the celebrant. Private interment will be made in the St. Benedict Cemetery, Carroltown.
