George Joseph Galentine's Obituary

George Joseph Galentine, age 76, of Home, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 17, 2018.

He was born in 1942 in Home, PA, to Preston and Jane (Redinger) Galentine.

George was a member of the Old Mahoning Baptist Church. He lived his life for the Lord. He enjoyed sharing his deep faith wherever he went. George retired from the coal mining industry at the age of 67. After retirement he enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. He also spent time at Scenery Hill Manor in fellowship with residents and their family members in song as he would play his guitar. George would find any excuse to take his Honda Gold Wing for a spin. He simply loved the motorcycle he fondly referred to as Big Red. A couple years ago he travelled on Big Red to the West Coast. This took him down memory lane, to a time and place where he met his wife A. Joyce Lawson while he served in the Navy. He truly enjoyed his travels and often checked in with family and friends relaying his whereabouts and the experiences from the day's journey. His journey soon became a month-long venture visiting family, friends, historical landmarks, and national parks. George lived his life to the fullest sharing his passion of God's love along the way.

George is survived by his brother John Galentine and wife Donna, Home; three sons and two daughters - James J. and wife Judith, York; Anita M. Johnston and husband Donald, Punxsutawney; David W., Hanover; Michael G., Wrightsville; Elizabeth S. Galentine, Home; ten grandchildren, one great grandchild , many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife A. Joyce Lawson in 2013, and his brother Preston H. Galentine

Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Old Mahoning Baptist Church, Home, where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 A.M. with Pastor Micah McMillen officiating. Interment will be made in the Church Cemetery. The Bowser-Minich Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
