Fred Troup's Obituary

Fred Troup, age 80, of Creekside, formerly of Sagamore, died Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Beacon Ridge Nursing Home. He was born 1929 in Nu Mine, to Charles and Bessie Facemyer Troup. Mr. Troup was a member of the Sagamore Wesleyan Methodist Church, and the UMWA local #1412. He was employed as a coal miner for the R and P Coal Co. for 35 years until his retirement. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening, and wildlife photography. Fred is survived by four daughters and one son; Shirley Carpenter and husband Rev. Donald Carpenter, Cherry Tree; Frederick J. and wife Brenda, Creekside; Mary Shick and husband Donald, Kittanning; Edna Coval and husband Rick, Conemaugh; Irene Troup and Randy Shiner, Dayton; 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and by six brothers and seven sisters, Samuel, Erie; Ruth Sheffar, Youngstown, OH; Jack and wife Joyce, Sagamore; Dorothy Barbarini, Erie; Grace Betts, Indiana; Ella Mae Crissman, Sagamore; Vernon and wife Joanne, Indiana; Betty Toth and husband Alan, Cleveland, OH; Barbara Beresnyak and husband Richard, Home; Richard, Home; Margaret Jean Haggerty and husband George, Martins Ferry, OH; Calvin and wife Mary Lou, Dayton; Leonard and wife Judy, McIntyre; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Loretta Sherwin Troup in 2001, and by four brothers, Charles, Darl, Thomas, and Ronald. Friends will be received on Monday, Sept. 6, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 11 A.M. with his son-in-law the Rev. Donald Carpenter officiating. Interment will be made in the St. John Cemetery, Sagamore. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sagamore Wesleyan Methodist Church, PO Box 266, Sagamore, PA 16250.
