Frank Redinger's Obituary

Frank Redinger, age 84, of Indiana, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. The son of Rupert and Anna Lucille (Ellis) Redinger, he was in 1930 in Sagamore. Frank enlisted in the Army in 1948 and served through 1953. During the Korean War, he served with the 1st Clavary Division, 7th Calvary Regiment. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard for 30 years, retiring in 1986 with the rank of First Sergeant. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. Frank worked for Sani-Dairy for 25 years in route delivery and sales, retiring in 1990. He then worked for S&T Bank for 10 years in warehouse stocking and branch maintenance, retiring in 2000. Frank was a Steelers fan rain or shine and enjoyed fishing, golf, gardening, and going to camp. He loved spending time with family and following the Irvin Family Facebook page. Surviving are his wife - Winifred Louise Donahue Redinger, son - Ken and wife Connie, Indiana; son - Kevin and wife Sue, Alliance, OH; sisters - Vera Brown and husband Cliff, Indiana; Emma Jean Geisel, New York; brother - Earl and wife Georgia, Saltsburg; seven grandchildren - Travis Redinger and wife Tiffany, Indiana; Todd Redinger and wife Heather, Indiana; Troy Redinger, Uniontown and fiance Shannon Tokar, Indiana; Tarina Redinger, Uniontown; Patrick Walsh and wife Nicki, Solon, OH; Margaret Redinger, Columbus, OH; Tyler Redinger, Alliance OH; two great grandchildren - Tristan Redinger and Taylor Redinger. He is also survived by Winifred's family - Jim and Patty Ann Irvin; Jim Thounhurst, Harold and Penny Allison; Ron and Judy Rubright; Gene and Pat Gapshes; Roger and Jackie Irvin; David and Jan Irvin; Rik and Beverly Wissinger. Preceding Frank in death were his parents; sisters Audrey Redinger, Jane Galentine, Betty Nicholson and Diane Stahlman; brothers - Rupert, George, William, Joseph, Eugene, Thomas, and James; sister-in-law - Claire Thounhurst. Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 12 Noon with the Rev. Dr. Jane Strohl officiating. Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the VFW Post #1989 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, 100 S. Sixth St., Indiana, PA 15701. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of: Dialysis Clinic of Indiana, Scenery Hill Nursing Home, IRMC Intensive Care and Sixth Floor Units, Doctors J. Ahmed and I. Bajwa during this difficult time.
