Francis "Frank" T. Braniff, age 68, of Rural Valley, died on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at his home.

He was born in 1947 in Revloc to John and Lillian Noel Braniff.

Frank attended the Church of the Resurrection and was a member of the Ford City Sportsman Assoc. and the Western PA Haflinger Assoc.

A veteran of the Viet Nam War, he served in the US Navy.

He was employed as a superintendant by Consol Energy for 20 years at the Shelocta Power Plant. He was formerly employed at R&P Coal Co. and Beth Energy.

Frank enjoyed hunting, skeet shooting, flying planes, horses, and spending time with his family, (especially his grandchildren), and his Amish friends. He also enjoyed rescuing animals with his wife.

Surviving are his wife, Janis Rummell-Nixon Braniff, Rural Valley; two sons and one daughter - Mark F. Braniff, Johnstown; David T. Braniff and wife Kathy, Browns Mills, NJ; Brenda A. Chappell, Liberty, SC; two step-children - Brian A. Nixon and wife Dawn, Nanty Glo; Lindsay R. Nixon-Greece and husband Jared, Nashville, TN; 10 grandchildren - Joshua, Jesse, Abigail, Chloe, Claire, Dustin, Jonathan, Kaitlyn, Collin, and Megyn; one brother and one sister - Timothy Braniff and wife Carie, Revloc; Sandy Mastropieri and husband Chris, FL; a sister-in-law - Doreen Braniff, Revloc; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brother - Robert and John Jr. "Jack, and a nephew John.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 6 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. Friends will also be received on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass at 11 A.M. at the Church of the Resurrection, Clymer site, with the Rev. Fr. Anthony Klimko, the celebrant. Private interment will be made in the St. Basil Cemetery, Coalport.
