Eva J. Gardner's Obituary

Eva J. Gardner, age 80, of Shelocta, died of natural causes after a prolonged illness in Indiana. She was born in 1930 in Brush Valley Twp., to Frank and Nellie Murdick Shaffer. Mrs. Gardner was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Indiana. She was employed by Riverside Market for 15 years where she managed the Cafeteria and Delicatessen. She enjoyed needlepointing and cooking for family and friends, and playing with her beloved pet Emma. Eva is survived by one daughter, Sandra Kaye Gardner, Pittsburgh, formerly of Washington, D.C.; her sister Dortha Thompson, Northern Cambria; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Richard "Bud" Gardner on January 3, 2010, by six sisters and two brothers, Ruth Ehman, Pauline Harsh, Marjorie Piurkowsky, Glenevieve Colgan, Gladys Learn, and Jettrude Shaffer, and Max and Dale Shaffer. Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral service will held on Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Indiana, with the Rev. William Murphy officiating. Interment will be made in the Brush Valley Lutheran Cemetery.
