Elmer Leroy Foster's Obituary

Elmer (Bucky) Foster, age 89, of Brush Valley, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.

A son of Ernest M. and Margaret (Rhodes) Foster, he was born in 1926 in Brush Valley.

Bucky married Carol McClain on July 25, 1955, officiated by her father, the late Reverend Ernest R. McClain at the Evangelical United Brethren Church (now Calvary United Methodist).

He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Brush Valley.

Bucky was a great sports fan and liked to watch the Pirates. He was an avid baseball player. He had a "Bucky Harris" ball glove and acquired the nickname of Bucky. He was also very musically inclined. Bucky was a kind person and always had a good word to say about everyone. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.

He worked at Old Home Manor for several years, and retired as a machinist from FMC (Syntron) after thirty-two years.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Carol (McClain) Foster, his sons - Gary Foster, Brush Valley; Randy Foster, Homer City; and Barry Foster, Brush Valley; his sister - Jean Ostinett, Clinton, NY; his sister-in-law - June Hiner Foster, New Brighton; his brother-in-law - Donald McClain and wife Ruth, Columbus, OH; sisters-in-law - Jean Kroviski, Greensburg; Vada Danaska and husband Harold, Seaford, DE; Kay Rockwell and husband Gene, Falling Waters, WV; and Helen Martindale, Westerville, OH; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law - Reverend Ernest R. and Ruth (Horner) McClain; his brothers - Henry, Raymond, Ernest, and Edward Foster, his sisters - Alma Henry, Dorothy Carney, and Margaret Brinks; and his sister-in-law - Shirley McClain Quay.

Arrangements are private. A memorial service will be held at a later date with his pastor, Reverend Richard Russell, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to The Calvary United Methodist Church, 200 Valley View Road, Homer City, PA 15748.
