Obituary

Edwin "Earl" Fairman, 83, of Brush Valley, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at The Communities of Indian Haven. He was born in 1927 to Jess E. and Twila A. (Peterman) Fairman in Washington Twp, Indiana County. Earl was a Life member of Indiana VFW Post 1989, former fire chief of Brush Valley Fire Dept and active in the Indiana County Veteran's Honor Guard. He was retired from the Indiana Gazette. Earl was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, camp fires and most of all making and eating mountain pies. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Loretta Mae (McCully) Fairman, Brush Valley; a son, Edward E. Fairman and wife Pauline, Armagh; a daugher Judy Ann Reed and husband Charles, Homer City; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother Nelson Fairman, Honey Brooke; two sisters, Rosetta A. Mack and husband Jess, Apollo; Loretta Mae Evans and husband James, Petrolia; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, two brothers Clark and Richard Fairman, a sister Ruby Strong and sister-in-law Shirley Fairman. Friends will be received on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at the funeral home at 11:00 AM. with Rev. Joseph L. Smith officiating. Interment will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery with military honors being performed by Indiana VFW Post 1989.
