Obituary

Edward Lee Mears, age 86, of Marion Center, died Saturday, December 14, 2013 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital. He was born in 1927 in Rayne Twp., to Charles and Myrtle Edwards Mears. Mr. Mears was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marion Center, had served as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and as a board member of the Laurel Bank, Johnstown Bank and Trust, and BT Financial Corp. He was self-employed as president of Mears Coal Company. Edward enjoyed big game hunting, collecting antique tractors, and farming. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elaine Foresi Mears, Marion Center; one son and three daughters, Kerry Mears and wife Carol, Clymer; Bonnie Neese and husband Robert, Marion Center; Diane Ruffner and husband Clair "Tip", Marion Center; Karen Short and husband Brian, Marion Center; 10 grandchildren, Rob Mears and wife Natalie, Curtis Mears and wife Megan, Bobby Neese, Michael Neese and wife Jessica, Matthew Neese, Nicholas Ruffner and wife Zoleanne, Kellie Ruffner and finacee Joe Santini, Logan, Zachary, and Olivia Short; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Charles Mears and wife Carole Jean, Home; and one brother-in-law Wallace Pollock, Marion Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, by an infant son Roger Wayne, and by two sisters Ruth Martin and Ethel Grace Pollock. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 A.M. with the Rev. Carl White and Prewitt Duncan officiating. Interment will be made in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Marion Center, 110 Main St., Marion Center, PA 15759.
