Obituary

Edward Z. Liszewski, age 80, of Indiana, died Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Scenery Hill Manor. He was born in 1931 in Washington Twp, to John and Teofila Talaka Liszewski. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers John, Joe, and Chester; sisters Ann Bonatch and Veronica Sas. A veteran of the Korean War, he served two years in the US Army in Fort Knox, KY. He was employed at Torrance State Hospital and then as a decades long bus driver for the Marion Center Area School District. All during this time, Ed loved his farm life and being a professional musician. Eddie was a life long resident of Creekside, and a member of the Resurrection Church, Ernest site. A self-taught musician he was known for his pleasant attitude and his God given musical abilities. Upon returning from the Army, Ed's musical talent was noted by many of the local popular country western groups. His talent evolved into Ed's own band. For many decades he was the band leader of "Eddie and the Slovenes", and "Twin Country Accordions", two very popular polka and country western bands. Ed and his life-long dear friend Dan Yarnick, created many beautiful musical pieces that are known not only in the United States but Europe as well. He was a daily iconic figure at Yarnick's Farm where he was truly loved by all, especially Joey, Kristi, Dan and Lynnette Yarnick, his favorite cook. He played many Yarnick Farm Sweet Corn Festivals in which the crowds looked forward to enjoying Ed's beautiful heartfelt music. He was special to many at their time of need. As Dan's father Fred said to him, "What did you ever do to deserve a friend like Eddie". Edward is survived by his sisters Agnes Bytner, Creekside; Vada Matestic, MI; and many nieces nephews. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral mass will be held Monday at 10 A.M. at the Church of the Resurrection, Ernest site, with the Rev. Fr. Timothy Kruthaupt the celebrant. Interment will be made in the St. Bernard Cemetery.
