Obituary

Edward K. Bratton, age 84, of Indiana, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born 1928 in Irvona, to R. Leroy and Evelyn Kanarr Bratton. Mr. Bratton was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, and was a member of and sponsor of many community organizations. He was self-employed as owner of Steiner's Market and later co-owner of several Giant Eagle franchises. Edward is survived by his wife Ruth Joanne Hamberger Bratton, Indiana; one son and one daughter, Timothy J. Bratton, Bethesda, MD; Melinda B. Higgins and husband James, Pittsburgh; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Bratton, NYC; Jeremy Bratton, Hilton Head, SC; Jennifer Higgins and husband Joseph Robinson, Pittsburgh; Erin Higgins and husband David Morganti, Pittsburgh; one great granddaughter Iysabella Bratton; one sister, Elizabeth Ashworth, Greensboro, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by one brother Robert Bratton. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 A.M. at the Calvary Presbyterian Church, Indiana, with the Rev. David Hanna officiating. Private interment will be made in the Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1165 Philadelphia St., Indiana, PA 15701.
