Dr. Joseph Arpad
Buzogany, M.D.
August 29, 1961 – January 24, 2024
Dr. Joseph Arpad Buzogany, M.D., affectionately known to his friends and colleagues as Doc, or Dr. B., left us, unexpectedly, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
His departure, at age 62, leaves behind a sense of loss and sorrow to his loved ones and the community at large. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 29, 1961, to the late Joseph and Ilona (Major) Buzogany.
Dr. Buzogany had an insatiable thirst for knowledge as evidenced by his many educational accomplishments. He graduated from Lake Catholic HS in Mentor, Ohio and then from the University of Cincinnati with a B.S. in Chemistry. He continued on to The Ohio State University where he achieved his medical degree. Dr. Buzogany went on to complete a fellowship in Electroconvulsive Therapy at Duke University Medical Center. He achieved all of these all while honorably serving our country as an Officer in the USAF.
His educational accomplishments are further punctuated by his professional achievements, which include memberships in the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, as well as the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society. Dr. Buzogany currently served as Director of Mental Health Sciences for the Indiana Physician Group and the Medical Director of Behavioral Health Services at IRMC.
Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Buzogany outside of his distinguished professional career, knows the passion that burned so brightly within, about his love of fine imported sports cars, and American motorcycles. Driving, riding, learning about and sharing his extensive knowledge of motors, could only be rivalled by his love of music and cinema.
He found immense joy in traveling, and sharing those adventures with the people he loved the most. Dr. Buzogany loved sports, especially the Pittsburgh Penguins, but his heart truly lied with "THE" Ohio State football team.
In his wake, Dr. Buzogany leaves behind some very cherished relationships, including a brother, Louis Buzogany, his wife Theresa, along with their children Maria and Lia Buzogany of Sagamore Hills, Ohio and his adored long-term partner and confidant, Koni Wheeling, of Indiana, PA.
Dr. Buzogany is preceded in death by his Parents.
Friends will be received on Friday, February 9, 2024, from 3:00 PM until the time of service at 6:00 PM in the Bowser Minich Funeral Home, 500 Ben Franklin Road S, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, financial contributions to the IRMC behavioral health building project in memory of Dr. Buzogany may be made to the IRMC Healthcare Foundation.
