Doris V. (Schrecongost) Stewart , 84, of Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Indiana Regional Medical Center.

She was born in 1931 to Norman and Viola (Orr) Schrecongost in Indiana.

Doris lived her entire life in Indiana, PA. She graduated from Indiana High School in 1949 and Indiana Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. Doris was employed at the hospital for 19 years as a Registered Nurse. She then went to Pechan Health Center at IUP and retired in 1991. Doris was a member of the Indiana Hospital Alumni Association and was Protestant by faith. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, cleaning, and was an avid Steeler fan.

She was a loving and caring wife and mother.

Doris is survived by her husband of 60 years Bud Stewart, Indiana; two daughters - Diane B. Sawyer, and husband David Indiana; Debra A. Stewart, Boston; a sister - Ruth Beatty, TX; two sister-in-laws - Marian Mihalcik, Indiana; Jane George, Indiana; a brother-in-law - William Stewart, Indiana, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers - Harry, Harold, Wilbert and Glenn Schrecongost.

A visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, with a service at the funeral home at 12:00 PM with Reverend David J. Hanna and Reverend Richard L. Cassel officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
