Donald R. Platter's Obituary

Donald R. Platter, age 78, of Indiana, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born in 1932 in Wellsburg, WV to Herman and Susanne Geris Platter. Mr. Platter served in the US Coast Guard during the Korean War. Don lived his Christian faith with generosity and kindness, sharing his love with those in need, living this way was an important part of who he was. He was employed as a salesman and manager for various car dealers in Indiana Co. and Weirton, WV. For 45 years, and became fondly known as "Dealin Don". Don enjoyed car racing, gardening, and all kind of sports. Donald is survived by his wife Donna H. Duty Platter, Indiana; three daughters and one son, Debra J. Colgan and husband Robert, Indiana; Deana K. Cochran and husband Terry, Homer City; Dawn R. Pryce and husband Bryan, Blairsville; D. Shawn and wife Tanya, Havloc, NC; eight grandchildren; one great grandson; two brothers, Harold Platter, Memphis, TN; and Maurice Platter, St. Cloud, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, by three brothers, Herman, Marvin, and William Platter. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 6 to 8 P.M. and on Wednesday from 10 to 11 A.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will begin at 11 A.M. with the Rev. Brad Lauster officiating. Interment will be made in the Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hillsdale Nursing Center, 383 Mt. View Dr., Hillsdale, PA 15746.
