Donald A. Frederick's Obituary

Donald A. Frederick, age 87, of Strongstown, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born in 1927 in Johnstown to Elmer and Agnes Kurtz Frederick. Mr. Frederick was a member of the Independent Traditional Holiness Church, Indiana, the VFW Post #7605, Twin Rocks, and a former member of several gun clubs and was active in Skeet competition and game hunting. A veteran of WW II, he served in the US Navy in the Aleutian Islands. Donald was first employed as a young man working on building submarines for Electric Boat in CT, and on a aircraft carrier in the Phildelphia Navy yard. Most recently, he was employed as a coal miner for Beth Energy in Revloc, Bird Coal in Johnstown, and numerous other independent coal companies. Donald is survived by his wife of 64 years - Lexie G. Klash Frederick, Strongstown; one daughter - Donna Wann and husband Gary, Waynesville, MO; two grandchildren - Stephanie Benton, Las Vegas, NV; Chris Wann and wife Tina, Nixa, MO; three great grandchildren - Kaylie Benton, Elijah and Rylee Wann; two sisters - Betty Croft, Indiana; Nancy Stephens and husband Edward, Strongstown; one brother - Edward Frederick and wife Gloria, Strongstown; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends will be received on Sunday from 3 to 6 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 A.M. with Pastor Charles Williamson officiating at the Independent Traditional Holiness Church, 5065 Ferguson Rd., Indiana, PA 15701. www.bowserminich.com
