Della Jean Manning, "DJ", age 85 of Penn Run, died on Friday, August 9, 2019 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in 1934 in Elizabethton, TN, to William D. and Virginia (Ambrosetti) White.   Della Jean married Robert DeWayne Manning in May of 1954, and they lived in Elizabeth, PA for 26 years before moving to Penn Run in 1979.

Della Jean was a member of Brush Valley Chapel.  She was a former member of the Round Hill Presbyterian Church.

She was devoted to assisting veterans' organizations and organized assistance for:  Tomorrows Hope Veterans' Homeless Shelter, Red-White & Blue Team for Veterans, Church of the Brethren Veterans' Housing, and Wreaths for Indiana County Veterans.  She also was very active with and served on the following boards:  AARP Chapter 2581, Four Footed Friends, Brush Valley Chapter Veterans' Affairs – Veterans Emergency Aid Fund.  In addition, she was chairwoman of Yellow Creek Conservation Association, County Chairwoman of Democratic Party for two terms, volunteer coordinator for ICCAP.

She enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and organizing events for Tomorrow's Hope.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Della Jean is survived by her sons – Robert Tim and wife Nancy, Salisbury, NC; Keith D. and wife Christine, Penn Run, PA; six grandchildren – Trisha Kline and husband Terry, Gardners, PA; Lee Manning and wife Kristy, Homer City, PA; Allan Manning and wife Kylie, Homer City, PA; Lenae Rastafar and husband Adam, Raleigh, NC; Kelcie Manning, Derry, PA; Cody Manning, Derry, PA; eight great grandchildren – Kaiti and Zach Kline, Hank and Wyatt Manning, Allison and Ashley Manning, Alyia and Callie Rastafar.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert DeWayne Manning who died in 2001.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Bob White officiating.   Interment will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery.
