Obituary

David R. Myers, 55, passed away on Thursday March 21, 2013 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London, CT. He was born on March 17, 1958 in Indiana, PA and was the son of Howard C. "Skip" and Marion (Drass) Myers. David grew up in Indiana, PA and graduated from Indiana High School in Indiana, PA in 1976. After high school he attended college at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, PA where he received both Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Chemistry. While completing undergraduate and graduate studies, David worked as a Paramedic for Citizens Ambulance Service in Indiana County. He began work for The Upjohn Company in Kalamazoo Michigan as an analytical chemist in 1984. He was employed by Pharmacia and most recently by Pfizer since 2006 as a Pharmaceutical Science Team Lead. David married Mary Churma in 1982 in Indiana, PA. They were happily married for 30 years. David attended The Congregational Church of Salem. David was an Eagle Scout and served as Assistant Scout Leader in Boy Scout Troop 123 in Salem. David was preceded in death by his father, Howard Myers. David is survived by his spouse Mary of Salem, CT, and his sons Daniel and Timothy both of Salem as well as his Mother, Marion of Indiana, PA, his brothers John, Harry and Daniel and 11 nieces and nephews, all from Pennsylvania. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 6, from 11-1:00 PM with a memorial service at 1:00 PM at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. Burial will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to The Congregational Church of Salem, 244 Hartford Road, Salem, CT 06420.
