Obituary

Darrell E. "Deed" Davis, age 65, of Homer City, (Brush Valley), passed away June 15, 2014 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. He was born in 1949 in Johnstown, to Raymond Eugene and Anna Mae Stewart Davis. Deed was a member of the VFW Post #1989, Indiana. He was the owner-operator of Indiana Generator Service in Indiana for 18 years. Most recently he was employed by Communities of Indian Haven as a physical therapy assistant for the past seven years, having returned to college at age 55 to obtain his degree. Darrell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. Although a man of few words, he was valued within his family as a role model for his guidance and direction. Of all of Deed's accomplishments and relationships, his grandchildren, Ian and Emma, were the highlight and greatest joy of his life. Time spent at soccer and baseball games, walks in the woods, and building Lego projects were special Pappy times. Darrell is survived by his wife of 45 years Sandra L. Carney Davis, Homer City; one daughter, Erica Savering and husband Andrew, Monroeville; two grandchildren, Ian Eugene and Emma Michelle Savering; his mother of Indiana; four siblings, Wanda Davis, Murrysville; Denise Ponczak and husband Edward, Monroeville; Barry Davis and wife Cheryl, Bellefonte; Robin Davis and fiancee Jerry Hammack, Homer City; numerous nieces and nephews; and his loyal companion Tanner. He was preceded in death by his father, by his daughter Michelle Dawn Davis in 2001, by his maternal grandparents, J. H. and Blanche Stewart; his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Naomi Davis, by his brother-in-law David DeHart, and by his father and mother-in-law, Roy and Flora Carney. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 A.M. with Thomas McNutt officiating. Interment will be private and made in the Armagh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to local animal charities or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
