Obituary

Connie J. Rising, 79, of Indiana, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013 with her family at her side. The daughter of Gerald W. and Anna Pauline Shaw Jeffries, she was born in 1933, in Indiana, PA. On November 9, 1954, she married L. Eugene Rising, who preceded her in death on January 11, 2003. She lived her entire life in Indiana, and was a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church, Indiana, as well as the Evergreen Garden Club, where she served as secretary. Connie was a loving housewife, having also been employed at Brody's Department Store. Later on, she along with her husband, Gene, owned Rising Brothers Tire, in Indiana, PA. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed camping on the Allegheny River, as well as quilting and knitting. She is survived by a son and two daughters - Kenneth E. Rising, Indiana; Joy Blystone and her husband Ken, Indiana; Brenda Rising, Indiana. Eight grandchildren - Sean, Sara and Brian Rising; Meghan Strawcutter and husband Adam; Stacey George and husband Aaron; Chad Blystone; Carly Sadler and husband Chris; and Kate Bish. Two great grandchildren - Riley and Cooper George; and a sister -Sandy Shields, Laurel, DE. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother - Bud Jeffries, and three sisters - Opal Lias, Marie Vanderhoff, and Carol Everett. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 at the funeral home with Reverend David J. Hanna officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011
