Obituary

Clarence E. Walters, age 86, of Indiana, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013 at Communities of Indian Haven. He was born 1926 in Pittsburgh, to Edward C. and Anna E. Simchalk Walters. A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the US Army. Clarence was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption R. C. Church, Lucernemines site, the Indiana Co. Life Underwriters and president for one year, Ball Room Dance Club, Punxsutawney Polka Dance Club, Homer City Boro Council having served as president for 12 years, and commander of the Indiana Co. Civil Air Patrol for five years. He was employed as an Independent Agent for State Farm Insurance for 33 years in Saltsburg and Homer City, and operated service stations in Homer City and Blairsville for 17 years. Clarence enjoyed flying, woodcrafts, boating, and dancing. Clarence is survived by his wife of 31 years, Rose (Topeck) Biconik Walters, Indiana; two children, LCDR Wayne A. Walters, USN Ret and wife Mary, Sunderland, MD; Debra Szupa, Landenberg; three step-children, Pamela Fetterman, Brush Valley; Mark Biconik, Brush Valley; Joel Biconik and wife Brenda, Homer City; five grandchildren, Laura Saunders and husband MAJ Jason, USA, Ft. Bragg, NC; LCDR Matthew Walters USN, and wife Adrienne, Hollywood MD; Elizabeth Scott and husband LT Evan, USN, Virginia Beach, VA; Kristopher Szupa and Kaitlyn Szupa, Landerberg; two step-grandchildren Jason Fetterman and wife Layla, Vintondale; Danelle Henry and husband Robert, Brush Valley; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Homer Walters and wife Betty, Wooster, OH; Edward Walters and wife Peg, Middleberg Heights, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, by his first wife Jennie Sopotnick Walters, by his son-in-law Michael Szupa, by his grandson John T. Walters, by one brother Robert Walters, and by a step-son John D. Biconik. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 A.M. at Our Lady of the Assumption R.C. Church, Lucernemines, with the Rev. Fr. Ron Cyktor the celebrant. Interment will be made in the St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana. Graveside military services will be provided by the VFW Post #1989.
