Obituary

Chester R. Socol, age 88, of Aultman, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Beacon Ridge Nursing Home.. He was born 1923 in Ernest, to John and Tolifa Liszewski Socol. Mr. Socol was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kent, and the UMWA Local #1412. A veteran of WWII, he served in US Army in the Pacific Theatre in Japan. He was employed as a coal miner with R and P Coal Co. at the Ernest Mines, Ernest Coke Ovens, and Jane and Emily Mines. He was also a farmer in his early years in the Creekside area. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, Senior Citizen lunches, Valley Dairy, ad working on the Kellereskie Farm. Chester is survived by three sons, Raymond T., Indiana; Chester G., Aultman; Roger J. and wife Joyce, Grafton; two grandsons, Matthew and Ryan, Grafton; two sisters, Agnes Bytner, Creekside; Vada Majestic, MI; and by his brother Eddie Liszewski, Creekside; He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Stella Kellereskie Socol in 2005, and by the following siblings, Veronica Sas, Ann Bonatch, Joseph and John Socol. Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 A.M. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kent, with the Rev. Fr. Charles Esposito the celebrant, Interment will be made in the St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd Building Fund, PO Box 99, Kent, PA 15752.
