Lebanon, Pennsylvania, a daughter to Clarence and Ruth Abbott. She was a child of the great depression of the 1930's and the depression influenced her life, her view of money, and her values. As a young woman, she worked in the Abbott Meat Packing Company which was the family business. Charlotte graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1948. She was a member of View Crest Presbyterian Church where she had many roles in teaching, hospitality, and various committees. She taught Sunday school for many years. She was scholarly in nature and had an in-depth knowledge of scripture, theology, and American history. She had a deep faith and was known as a woman of prayer. Charlotte was an adventurous woman that traveled extensively to visit natural and historic sites. She frequently went camping to remote places in the United States and Canada. She also traveled and visited various countries in Europe. Surviving are four sons and their wives: Kurt Philip Dudt (Deborah Valcheff) of Indiana; Jan Fredrick Dudt (Katherine Benson) of Grove City; Philip Christian Dudt (Susan Holmes) of Hiram, Georgia; and Arnold Mark Dudt (Margaret Broekema) of Brookfield, Ohio; seventeen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one brother, Fred Abbott.
